South Hadley adopts new restraint policy, restructures middle school leadership

SOUTH HADLEY — School Committee approves restraint policy update, restructures middle school leadership. The South Hadley School Committee unanimously approved updates to its student restraint policy to align with state regulations and renamed the Dean of Students position to Assistant Principal of Culture and Climate. Superintendent Jennifer Voyik said the new title clarifies the role's focus on school culture, climate, bullying prevention, student discipline, and family engagement.

The committee also approved $1.28 million in warrants and biweekly payroll for June 2-9. Chair Eric Friesner reported the district's latest contract offer to the South Hadley Educators Association is a 4-year deal with 0 percent salary increase in FY26 and graduated increases of 1.5, 1.5, and 1.75 percent in FY27, FY28, and FY29.
