School Committee approves grade reconfiguration tied to new elementary school

Public Schools · Meeting of May 20, 2026

South Hadley School Committee unanimously backs grade reconfiguration tied to new elementary school. The five-member panel approved placing Pre-K and Kindergarten at Scala School, grades 1–5 at the new Mosier School, and grades 6–8 at the middle school, aligning with the Massachusetts School Building Authority building process. The committee also unanimously approved a vocational director position funded by $300,000 in town free cash and expanded first-grade school choice slots from one to four for the 2026-27 year.

A community forum on the Mosier design is set for June 4 at 5:00 p.m.
