Planning Board approves sign permits, development guarantees

Planning Board · Meeting of July 13, 2026

South Hadley Planning Board approves sign permits and hears zoning concerns. The Planning Board unanimously approved illuminated sign permits for TruNorth Bank and Beacon Bank and endorsed performance guarantees totaling $1.1 million for two development projects. The board held a public listening session on a proposed multi-generational housing overlay for East Street as residents voiced concerns about traffic and drainage impacts.

The revised proposal would allow approximately 70 housing units at a maximum density of 4 units per acre, down from 78 units at 6 per acre. An information session is scheduled for August 10, followed by a public hearing on September 28.
