Planning Board approves comprehensive agricultural zoning amendments
Planning Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026
South Hadley Planning Board approves agricultural zoning overhaul for November town vote. Clerk Brad Hutchison moved approval of revisions to Chapter 255, Articles 10, 24, 25, 26, and 41 addressing commercial agricultural uses and outdoor recreation facilities; Vice-Chair Bob Szklarz seconded, and the Board voted 4-0 in favor. Director Anne Capra noted that wineries, breweries, and similar agritourism operations would require Site Plan Review and must grow associated crops on site, with tourism incidental to farm operations.
The Board also unanimously approved an Approval Not Required plan consolidating two parcels at 6 Rita Circle into a single 26,930-square-foot lot.
