Human Rights Commission defers leadership reorganization, advances community needs study

Human Rights Commission · Meeting of June 24, 2026

South Hadley Human Rights Commission defers leadership restructuring, advances community needs study. Reaching quorum only after Gena Lomelin's arrival, the commission postponed selection of chair, vice chair, and secretary until July 22 to ensure full board participation. The group advanced its Community Needs Assessment initiative, which will gather input through community events and explore the question "whose voices are we not hearing?" It also onboarded Sarah Lee, a Mount Holyoke College rising senior majoring in international relations, as an intern; town superintendent Lisa Wong suggested Lee research Massachusetts legislation affecting the town.

The next meeting is July 22.
