Board Backs Mobile Food Vendor Bylaw Amendment
Planning Board · Meeting of August 10, 2026
South Hadley Planning Board backs bylaw amendment to eliminate mobile food vendor operating limits. Clerk Brad Hutchison's motion to remove the 14-day monthly cap passed unanimously, allowing operators like Mel's Coffee and Ice Cream to expand to five or six days weekly. The recommendation will advance to the Selectboard for public hearing and November Special Town Meeting warrant placement.
The Board also unanimously approved illuminated sign refacing for Family Pizza at 334 Newton Street and received preliminary design presentation for a new Mosier Elementary School, a 114,000-square-foot building proposed for 2030 occupancy. Discussion of a College Street zoning amendment was deferred pending Selectboard referral, with public hearing tentatively scheduled September 28.
