Zoning Board denies variance for Granby Road corner lot

Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of February 19, 2026

South Hadley Zoning Board denies variance for Granby Road corner lot. The board unanimously rejected Andrew Bazukin's request to reduce the required 40-foot front setback to 31 feet for an undeveloped corner parcel at Assessors' Map 16, Lot 90, in the Residential A-1 district. Vice Chair Jacqueline Dupre and Clerk Stephen Frantz moved and seconded the denial, with Chair Martha Terry authorized to file the decision.

The board found that corner lots are common in the district, the applicant has sufficient buildable space (1,850 square feet) under current zoning, and the variance would substantially derogate from the bylaw's intent.
