Selectboard rejects petition to compel school building committee design review.
Selectboard · Meeting of March 17, 2026
SOUTH HADLEY — Selectboard votes 3-2 to reject petition compelling school building committee review. Chair Jeff Cyr, Clerk Carol Constant, and member Renee Sweeney blocked the motion to call a Special Town Meeting regarding the Mosier school project layout options; Vice Chair Nicole Casolari and member Andrea Miles dissented. Town Administrator Lisa Wong reported that 200 petition signatures could not be verified as registered voters in time for the meeting and that Town Meeting members have no formal authority over the building committee.
The board unanimously forwarded the FY27 budget to the Appropriations Committee, clarifying that approval advances rather than endorses the proposal; multiple members expressed dissatisfaction with proposed cuts. Health insurance rates will increase 12.5 percent effective July 1, 2026, following an Insurance Advisory Committee vote on February 25.
