School Committee approves payroll warrant, previews budget scenarios
Public Schools · Meeting of January 21, 2026
South Hadley School Committee approves payroll, outlines dire budget choices. Vice Chair Danielle Cooke, with members Jack Witkowski, Charles Miles, and Tracie Kennedy present, unanimously approved a $816,133.15 biweekly payroll warrant. Superintendent Jennifer Voyik presented deficit-reduction scenarios ranging from $3 million to $9 million in overrides, warning that a $3 million shortfall would require eliminating sports, after-school activities, and middle/high school music, plus staff reductions and larger class sizes.
The Budget Task Force will present recommendations to the Select Board by February 10, with a final public listening session scheduled for January 22.
