South Hadley's Human Rights Commission approved prior minutes and discussed its potential role in the February 25 special Town Meeting addressing a tax override tied to the town's budget deficit. Commission Chair Renee Sweeney reported on a 3.5-hour Select Board meeting with four boards and task forces reviewing the shortfall. The commission considered whether to serve as an information resource during deliberations and explored questions about affordability for lower-income residents.
Alex Wirth-Cauchon, newly appointed to the MPIC Committee, requested updated narratives from the commission before May 1 aligned with the Master Plan's four goals. Members Danielle Cooke, Judy Dobosh, and Sweeney volunteered to develop website resources and links to other communities' human rights commissions.
