SOUTH HADLEY — Elementary School Project Building Committee approves two invoices and soil testing. The Finance Subcommittee unanimously endorsed Skanska's $8,350 invoice and Mount Vernon Group's $66,000 invoice, conditioned on detailed work breakdown documentation from MVG before payment. A $22,308 proposal for five additional soil borings and testing was also approved; the work, scheduled for March 16 and 17, became necessary after the building design shifted closer to the road to accommodate expanded parking and field space.
Committee members noted apprehension about the boring cost rising from an earlier $10,000 estimate but determined sufficient environmental budget reserves justified approval.
