Elementary School Project Building Committee · Meeting of August 26, 2026

SOUTH HADLEY — The South Hadley Elementary School Building Committee tabled its decision on whether to build an all-electric or mixed-fuel new Mosier Elementary, voting 5-3 to defer the motion until September 9 pending more detailed cost analysis. Chair Diane Mulvaney led the 31st meeting with all 10 voting members present. The Massachusetts School Building Authority increased the reimbursable construction cost allowance to $625 per square foot, up from $605, with additional increases for site and demolition costs effective January 1, 2027.

A mixed-fuel design would require approximately 180 kW of solar at an estimated cost of $700,000 to qualify for an additional 3 percent reimbursement. The committee unanimously approved a substitution of the landscape architect for the project.
