SOUTH HADLEY — The Capital Planning Committee reviewed 2027 capital project requests, focusing on wastewater treatment plant needs totaling tens of millions. Director of Public Works John Broderick presented a pared-down vehicle replacement list for 2027 and outlined the treatment plant timeline: Main Street design by year-end 2026, bidding in mid-2027, main plant Phase 1 at 10 million to 12 million dollars in Spring 2028, and Phase 2 at 15 million dollars to follow. South Hadley's current sewer fee of 500 dollars per household annually is the state's lowest; Broderick noted fees will likely double to address system underfunding.

The committee determined the project requires public education before Select Board consideration and will finalize its capital plan in March.
