Building Committee advances elementary school design, approves additional site studies

South Hadley Building Committee approves design delivery method and site studies. The Elementary School Project Building Committee unanimously adopted Design-Bid-Build as the project delivery method and authorized approximately $55,000 in additional services for a site survey and traffic study required under the Massachusetts School Building Authority contract. Chair Diane Mulvaney's committee voted to cancel a March 18 meeting after Mount Vernon Group Architects confirmed the Preferred Schematic Report submission would be completed by March 6.
Town Administrator Lisa Wong presented preliminary borrowing projections of approximately $70 million with roughly $60 million in interest over 30 years, totaling approximately $4.5 million per year in debt exclusion costs. Next meetings are estimated for April 16 and 29, May 13 and 27, and June 10 and 24.
