SOUTH HADLEY — Budget Task Force reviews survey data, override scenarios as report takes shape. With more than 2,200 community survey responses analyzed, Chair Kevin McAllister and Co-Chair Nicholas Gingras convened members to evaluate four municipal-override funding levels from $3 million to $11 million, with Town Administrator Lisa Wong and Superintendent Jen Voyik presenting scenario impacts ranging from short-term relief to five-year service stability. All members present confirmed support for pursuing some level of override, citing structural budget constraints driven by Proposition 2½ limits and mandated costs that outpace the 2.5% levy cap.
The Committee assigned report sections to members and agreed to develop communication materials--including FAQs and short videos--to clarify budget realities and service-cut trade-offs to residents.
