Assessors present tax exemption options; Selectboard defers decision.

SOUTH HADLEY — Assessors present tax exemption options to Selectboard in joint meeting. Associate Assessor Melissa L. Couture Rimbold outlined local option exemptions and possible adoptions or changes, with Selectboard Chair Jeff Cyr calling the presentation long overdue.
Chair Kevin E. Taugher stated the Assessors' office has operated at minimum staffing and budget for twelve years and cautioned the Selectboard that expanding exemptions would require material additional resources. Selectboard Member Renee Sweeney requested detailed spreadsheets for further study.
After discussion, the Selectboard voted by consensus to defer action and defer any warrant additions, allowing more time for review.
